One of the useful features of the iPad and iOS is its voice to text capability. You may already be using this capability for text messaging, but do you know that you can also use it in the Takedown App to enter data? To activate the feature, go to Settings > General > Keyboards and set Enable Dictation to on.
All plain text fields in Takedown Scoring and Stats such as notes, wrestler name, event name, or school name can be entered using your spoken words. This also includes searching for opponent teams and wrestlers in Match Scoring, a real time-saver.
When the virtual keyboard is displayed, you'll see a key on the lower left of the keyboard with a microphone icon. Tap it, and you're ready to go !
The iOS iPad voice recognition has a host of keywords to add punctuation, special symbols, and text formatting if you should ever need them. See the Apple Support pages (or many others) for helpful lists of these keywords.
What if the microphone button is grayed out? You need a valid internet connection to use voice dictation and SIRI must be enabled in the settings.
