What We’re Working On
First, many thanks to those who responded to the new feature survey. We reviewed the responses and are prioritizing them. Some of you will hear from us as our implementation plan comes together and the inevitable questions arise.
Separately, we are planning to work the following projects for 2025-2026 availability:
App Store experience improvements
Converting the free trial from activity based to time-based
International scoring
Automatic Roster and Opponent Team refresh
Purchasing directly from us as an alternative to the App Store
Dual meet tournament event type and all the niceness that goes along with that like decluttering the Schedule for example.
Successfully manufacturing and rolling out various forms of Takedown Advantage.
In addition, the biggest investment we’re undertaking is changing our backend database vendor and doing it in a way that’s transparent to users. This is a significant time and dollar commitment. Any unexpected challenges in this effort will impact the rest of the plan.
Things we aren’t working on:
An Android version of Takedown.
An iPhone version of Takedown.
Importing scoring transcripts from Track. Track transcripts often lack precision and Takedown can’t import the ubiquitous ‘+1’ in Track transcripts. I know why it exists — to get the score right — but it isn’t very useful in Takedown’s focus on quality statistics.
Importing tournament matchups (pairings) from Track. It’s a good idea, but Track is uncooperative. The sport needs a better Track. Is there one out there? We’d love to work with them.
A choice arrow for the scoreboard. We already did that last season. 😊
Live video streaming. It’s a great idea Kevin, but the technology foundation still isn’t very good on an iPad.
Any team v. any team scoring. We looked at it. Good idea and we understand the need. The time-based free trial will make it easier to use Takedown in a dual meet tournament since the 30 match free trial limit (current implementation) will no longer apply.
