Student Data Privacy Commitments

Effective November 4, 2026

Takedown is built for school and college wrestling programs. Coaches use it to keep rosters, score matches, track weight and attendance, and report results. When a school uses Takedown, the wrestlers’ information belongs to the school, and LevelChanger handles it only to provide Takedown to that school. These are our commitments.

  1. The school owns its data. Student information entered into Takedown, or added for a school's team, remains under the school's control. We act as a service provider and, under FERPA, as a "school official" working at the school's direction.

  2. We use student data only to run Takedown for the school. That means scoring, rosters, weight management, attendance, reports, broadcasts the coach turns on, and support the school asks for.

  3. We never sell student data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, recruiters, or anyone else.

  4. No advertising to students. We do not show targeted advertising in Takedown and we do not use student data to target advertising anywhere.

  5. No profiling outside school purposes. Wrestler statistics exist to serve the team. We do not build profiles of students for any other purpose.

  6. Student data is not used to train AI models. Student data is never used to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.

  7. Limited, contracted service providers. We use a small number of providers to host and operate Takedown. Each is bound by a written agreement to protections at least as strong as ours and may not sell or reuse student data. Our current list is at levelchanger.com/service-providers.

  8. Security. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to the people who need it to operate Takedown, and we follow the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

  9. Breach notification. If student data is compromised, we will notify the affected school within 72 hours of confirming the breach.

  10. Deletion on request. When a school asks, or when its service ends, we delete or return its student data within 60 days. Coaches can also remove an individual wrestler at any time. Wrestler photos are stored with the team's data and deleted with it. Match video is not stored by LevelChanger; it stays in the Photos app on the team's iPads, where the coach deletes it directly, and any video a coach uploads to YouTube is in the coach's own YouTube account. We recommend turning iCloud Photos off on team iPads.

  11. Parents and students. Parents and eligible students who want to review or correct a record should contact their school. We will help the school respond.

  12. Children under 13. When a school uses Takedown for wrestlers under 13, we rely on the school's authorization for school use only, as permitted by the FTC's COPPA guidance, and use that data for no other commercial purpose.

  13. Roster Sync. Takedown can fill in a team's roster from LevelChanger's roster database. Roster data is stored in LevelChanger's cloud database, and those roster entries are treated as that school's student data under these same commitments.

  14. Changes and ownership. We will not weaken these commitments without notice. If LevelChanger is ever acquired, the buyer must honor them, and we will notify schools.

  15. We sign district agreements. We sign the Student Data Privacy Consortium National Data Privacy Agreement, including state-specific terms.
