Takedown 3.5.24 Is the Final 3.5 Release

End of support: March 31, 2027

Takedown 3.5.24 is now in the App Store. It is the last release of version 3.5.

Why this matters

The upcoming major release, Takedown 4.0, requires iOS 18.6 or later. Some older iPads cannot update that far, and those iPads cannot run 4.0.

Version 3.5 requires iOS 15.6 or higher, so it continues to run on those iPads. If your program is using one of the models below, 3.5.24 is the version you will stay on.

In general, do not expect access to new features in version 3.5, including those in the upcoming 4.0 release. Dual meet tournaments, USAW tournaments, freestyle, the Coaches Practice Planner, and the shareable calendar are 4.0 only.

iPads that cannot run Takedown 4.0

These models do not support iOS 18.6 or later:

  • iPad 5th generation (2017)
  • iPad 6th generation (2018)
  • iPad Mini 4 (2015)
  • iPad Air 2 (2014)
  • iPad Pro 1st generation (2015)
  • iPad Pro 2nd generation (2017)

Support ends March 31, 2027

We will discontinue support for Takedown 3.5 on March 31, 2027. Until then, 3.5.24 continues to work and we will continue to support it where technically feasible.

After that date, running Takedown means running 4.0, which means an iPad that supports iOS 18.6 or later. Plan your iPad purchases accordingly.

What to do now

If your iPads can run iOS 18.6, no action is needed. Update to 4.0 when it ships later this month.

If any of your iPads are on the list above, our recommendation is to transition to iPads that can run 4.0 as budget allows. Version 4.0 has a future. Version 3.5 does not.

You have until March 31, 2027, which is two full seasons of notice — enough time to work replacements into a normal budget cycle rather than an emergency one.

Check your iPad for installed iOS version if you are not sure which models your program is running.
