Takedown 4.1: Rosters That Update Themselves

New release

Takedown 4.1 is in the App Store. The main improvements:

  1. Rosters update automatically.
  2. Team locations come from our database and open in Maps.
  3. Logos for most teams, from the same database.
  4. Opponent Team search.
  5. Bug fixes.

Rosters that update themselves

Downloading a roster is now subscribing to it. Subscribe to your team’s Roster, to individual Opponent Teams, or to every team in a state, and Takedown keeps them current all season from our database, which is updated roughly once a day. Updates that arrive while the app is closed are applied the next time it opens. The Refresh Rosters buttons are gone; there is nothing left to refresh.

  • Get Roster and Get Opponent Teams, in the Season, open the subscription sheets.
  • Automatic updates are on by default. Turn them off in the sheet to review each update and apply it yourself.
  • Uncertified wrestlers can be included or left out, set separately for your Roster and for Opponent Teams.
  • Unsubscribe with a swipe. A team with matches this season stays; it just stops updating.

Locations and maps

Team addresses now come down with the roster, so most teams in our database arrive with a location. It appears under the team or event name as a link; tap it to open Apple Maps, or Google Maps if it’s installed. You can set or clear a location for your team and for any Opponent Team, and new dual meets fill in the location on their own: home events use the Season’s home location, and away dual meets use the opponent’s.

Opponent Teams

  • Search the Opponent Teams list by name or state.
  • Add a team manually straight from the + button.
  • Logos. Most teams in our database now carry a logo. Your team’s logo fills in on its own when it’s blank; for an Opponent Team, tap Use Roster Logo.
  • Delete a team that has no matches from its edit screen.

Seasons

Copy Schedule, Copy Roster and Copy Opponent Team Rosters have their own section in the Season, drawing on seasons from the last two years. Takedown no longer lets you archive your only season or the season currently selected.

Bug fixes

  • iOS 18 crash. Opening the Takedown Store, Periods or Archived Seasons on iOS 18 could close the app; it no longer does.
  • Multi-day tournament weigh-ins. Each day’s weigh-in is now stamped with the right date, and clearing a weigh-in no longer removes the wrestler from the roster.

Plus a dozen smaller fixes in scoring, weigh-ins, notes and login.

How to update

Open the App Store on each iPad and update Takedown Scoring and Stats. Takedown 4.1 needs iOS 18.5 or later. If App Updates is on in the iPad’s Settings > App Store, it installs on its own.
