Beyond scoring
Many coaches use Takedown for scoring and video recording and never get to the features that handle the work before competition starts. That work comes around every season: the schedule, the rosters, practice and keeping parents informed. Set up these five features in the preseason and they save you time from the first practice to the last match.
- Schedule
- Rosters and Opponent Teams
- Practice Attendance
- Practice Plan
- Calendar
None of them needs a subscription. Subscriptions cover scoring and video recording; every other feature in Takedown is free.
1. Schedule
Every dual meet and tournament is an Event on the Season’s schedule. Enter your schedule in the preseason and it goes straight to the shared calendar, so parents and fans have every date, time and location before the first match, and any change you make later reaches them on its own. Notes you add to an Event, such as the bus departure time, appear on that calendar too. Don’t leave it until the day of your first Event. Enter the whole schedule in advance, and add details as they’re confirmed.

2. Rosters and Opponent Teams
Subscribe to your team as your Roster and Takedown keeps it current all Season. Every team with a roster on Trackwrestling, USA Bracketing or USA Wrestling is in our roster database, which is updated roughly once a day. New wrestlers, name and grade changes and certified weights reach your iPad on their own, and anything you entered yourself, such as photos, parents and notes, is kept.
Do the same for your opponents. Subscribe to individual teams, or to a whole state before competition begins, and their wrestlers arrive with team logos and addresses. A team has to be on your Opponent Teams list before you can schedule a dual meet against it.
- Start here: My Team > Seasons, your Season, then Get [your team] Roster and Get Opponent Teams.

3. Practice Attendance
Schedule practices one at a time, or schedule one and set it to repeat weekly through the end of the season. At each practice, every wrestler starts with your default status, so you tap only the exceptions: late or absent, excused or unexcused. The Practice Attendance report then counts it by wrestler or by date, so a wrestler who is missing practice or arriving late stands out. When it’s time for attendance awards, the totals are already done. No paper, no spreadsheet.
The same practice screen records weigh-ins and weigh-outs, typed in or read from a connected Befour scale.
- Start here: My Team > Practice, then +. To repeat a practice, set Repeat to Weekly and an End Repeat date.

4. Practice Plan
Build a Practice Plan as timed sections, such as warm-up, drilling, live wrestling and conditioning, from a catalog of built-in activities or your own, and Takedown totals the minutes and shows the start and stop times. Attach a video link to any activity. Save a plan as a template, or start from one you have already run. Then email it to coaches and wrestlers by role, or share it as a PDF, so the team knows the plan before they walk in.
- Start here: open a practice in My Team > Practice and tap Add Plan.

5. Calendar
Takedown publishes a calendar of each Season’s Events and Practices. Share the link once, by email, by text or as a QR code on a handout, and it stays current in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook as you change the schedule.
- Start here: My Team > Seasons, your Season, then Share Calendar.
