This Fall, we plan on releasing cloud synchronization for Takedown Scoring and Stats.
Benefits of Takedown cloud synchronization:
All users for a team have the same data. No more exporting/importing files
Easy subscription sharing. No need to have all devices registered to same Apple ID
Off device, automatic backup. No more manual backups.
In practice, this means you can recruit anyone with an iPad to score your matches. The only info they'll need is your Takedown account information (discussed below).
Another benefit of our cloud sync implementation is that all the current Takedown features remain intact. Internet connectivity is not required to score matches, record video or generate reports. Also, all of your cloud-sync'd Takedown data is private -- it is not accessible without your Takedown login credentials.
Requires an Account
Takedown cloud synchronization will require that each team login with an email address and password. Fortunately, if you've registered for Takedown LIVE, we can use those login credentials for cloud synchronization, too.
To make the transition to Takedown cloud synchronization as simple as possible, here are a few things you should do in advance of this upcoming Fall release:
If your team is registered for Takedown LIVE, make sure you have your login credentials and password. See Takedown LIVE in the Social section in the app.
If your team is not registered for Takedown LIVE, do that now. You don't need to publish any scoring activity to Takedown LIVE, all you need to do is register. Keep a record of your email/password credentials. See Takedown LIVE in the Social section of the app.
When you update to the cloud sync release in the fall, we'll automatically use your Takedown LIVE credentials to securely create your synchronized cloud database.
Of course, if you don't have Takedown LIVE credentials, you'll have the opportunity to create an account/password combination for your team when you upgrade to the new Takedown release.
As we've previously suggested, it is a very good idea to use a team-focused email address rather than a personal email address for creating Takedown credentials. Athletes, managers, parents and coaches move on and retrieving credentials from people who are no longer associated with your program can be painful.
It is a brilliant idea to get a free, team-focused Google Gmail account because you can also use that email address for uploading your videos to your team YouTube account. One team-focused email address for all Takedown services. You. Are. Brilliant.
We'll have more to say about the cloud sync feature in the coming weeks.
